  • The inner ring, close to the heat source, reaches the highest temperatures and is ideal for searing.

How to use the Plancha


Do you barbecue with wood or pellets?

Even when grilling on the MOON, the choice is yours: Do you want to enjoy the interactive play of the flames, regulate the heat precisely and control the burning time with firewood? Or do you prefer a large flame and constant heat for up to two hours when grilling over pellets

In either case, you should allow the plancha to heat up over the flames for about 15 minutes before placing the food on it.

Can I use the MOON Plancha with wood and pellets?

Yes, you can use both pellets and wood to light the MOON and grill over the flames. In either case, you should allow the plancha to absorb the intense heat of the flames for about 15 minutes before placing the food on it.


What is the size of the grill surface of the MOON Plancha and what is the size of the hole in the middle?

The MOON 45 Plancha has a diameter of 53 cm and the opening in the middle has a diameter of 20 cm. The MOON 55 Plancha has a diameter of 64 cm and the opening in the middle has a diameter of 25 cm.


Does the Sear Grate from BOWL 57 or BOWL 70 fit on the MOON Plancha?

No. BOWL 57 | 70 Sear Grate only fits on BOWL 57 or BOWL 70.


Do I need to season the plancha before use like a cast iron pan?

The MOON Plancha is made of enamelled cast iron. This means that it does not need to be seasoned like a traditional cast iron pan. However, it is recommended to heat the plancha for about 10-15 minutes at full flame to ensure the non-stick effect. When grilling, we recommend using a little heat-resistant oil (e.g. rapeseed oil).

What is the best way to clean the plancha?

After grilling, use a scraper to remove food and fat from the hot plancha. You can simply push the residue towards the centre/fire/embers of the plancha. You can find a spatula here. You can then clean the plancha thoroughly with warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft brush/sponge. Stubborn stains can be removed with a standard oven or grill cleaner. After cooling, it is advisable to rub the plancha with a little cooking oil (not olive oil).
