Thanks to its double-walled construction and divided air supply, a two-stage combustion process is created. While the fuel inside (firewood or pellets) is ignited, preheated air flows upward between the walls and enables an efficient afterburn of fine wood particles beneath the opening. Smokeless sea of flames
MOON sets new standards with its wood gasification technology. Rising wood particles are burnt in a second combustion stage, so there is virtually no smoke. At the same time, the fire rises from the MOON like an endless sea of flames – even in freshening winds, thanks to the integrated Airstream.
Two stands

Pellets or wood?
MOON is the first höfats fire basket that works with both! Either fire it up with logs for that traditional campfire feeling, or choose pellets for up to two hours of continuous, smoke-free burning – without refuelling.

How wood gasification technology works
Smoke-free fire is the highest art – and with MOON, it becomes reality. The key lies in its double wall, consisting of an inner and outer shell.
When air enters, it is divided into three streams:
- Two streams pass through the ash tray and heat the fuel inside the fire basket – e.g. wood or pellets
- The third stream rises between the inner and outer shell, is heated along the way, and exits through the ring of holes below the opening.
- At this point, a secondary combustion takes place, efficiently burning even the smallest wood particles and – especially when using pellets – creating a smoke-free flame.

Light with pellets
MOON is the ultimate fire basket for effortless and smokeless fires.
Step 1:
Fill the MOON with pellets, leaving the perforated circle below the opening free (approx. 20-21 kg of pellets).
Step 2:
Place 4-5 pieces of kindling wool on top of the pellets.
Step 3:
Moisten the wool and the pellets with höfats bioethanol gel fuel.
Step 4:
Light the wool, watch the pellets start to burn and after a few minutes you will see the fascinating play of flames.

The nozzle stabilises the airflow and directs oxygen precisely into the combustion chamber. This optimally supports both primary and secondary combustion, keeping the flame calm, stable and beautifully shaped.

Which pellets should I use?
We recommend that you use pellets with an ENplus or DINplus quality certificate. The exact wood type of the pellets is of secondary importance.
On which surfaces can MOON be used?
In general, all fire bowls should only be used on fireproof surfaces such as stone, concrete, or sand, and with a minimum distance of 3 metres from flammable or heat-sensitive materials. MOON with the tall stand has more clearance to the ground and can, at your own discretion, also be placed on other surfaces. MOON must not be placed under roofs, trees, or similar coverings. Even after the fire has gone out, the ash from wood or pellets can remain hot for several hours.
Can I use MOON indoors?
No, the fire basket is only suitable for outdoor use. There you can enjoy a smokeless fire when using pellets, avoiding unpleasant odours and trouble with the neighbours.

Can I refill pellets in the MOON?
No. Once the pellets have burned down, you must first remove the remaining residues from the MOON before adding new pellets and lighting the MOON again.
If you fire the MOON with firewood, you can add more wood at any time as long as you want to keep the fire going.
If I purchase the MOON 55 with the high stand, is the low stand also included?
Yes. If you order the MOON 55 with the high stand, you will automatically receive the low stand as well, since the high legs are mounted onto the low stand.
How many pellets fit into the MOON 55?
Approximately 20–21 kg of pellets fit into the MOON 55. This provides a burning time of around 2 hours.
