FIRELIGHT BOULDERING

And adventure is waiting outside
It was just an idea which emerged on an especially cold and damp winter afternoon among 6 friends in a climbing hall: To once go bouldering in summer, outside in natural rock, and to grill and chill afterwards. When hiking, Christoph found the perfect spot for doing so: a rock fall in the Allgäu Alps. More than 60 years ago, a massive landslide of rocks occurred here. Christoph posted the photo of the rock area on our group chat – it was a hit! All were enthused about it and Friday afternoon was fixed. With crash pads under our arms, climbing shoes and BEER BOX, we followed the hiking path up to the bouldering paradise and quickly found the perfect rock for the start. Sarah and Fabi had already laid out the crash pads while Benni immersed his hands into the chalk bag and slowly warmed his shoulders.

"NOTHING WELDS TOGETHER IN A BETTER WAY THAN SPORTS DO – EXCEPT PERHAPS THE JOYFUL ANTICIPATION OF SOME DELICIOUS FOOD ON OPEN FIRE."
Teamwork for the goal
Some minutes later, Benni was already climbing in the rocks, Christoph being behind, watching him and giving tips. From time to time, he realigned the crash pads behind Benni. Nothing welds together in a better way than sports do – except perhaps the joyful anticipation of some delicious food on open fire. Slowly, the sun goes down behind the rocks. Michel heats up BEER BOX and prepares our meal.

Fire and rock
We will have cheese fondue, together vegetables for dipping and Laura brought along delicious bread. They are sitting together until late night and Fabi is doing another boulder route in the glow of the fire. In the end, all agree upon one thing: this summer’s day was even better than imagined the climbing hall in winter.
