Bread on a stick
Ingredients (for approx. 10 stick breads):
- 500 g flour
- 1 cube of fresh yeast
- 2.5 tsp salt
- 4 tbsp olive oil
- A pinch of sugar
- Approx. 300 ml lukewarm water
- According to taste: rosemary, oregano, ...
- One stick per person
Preparation of the dough:
- Dissolve the yeast in warm water.
- Mix the flour, salt and sugar in a bowl.
- Add the olive oil first, then gradually add the lukewarm yeast water and knead the dough with a little force and a lot of love.
- Add any other spices you like (e.g. rosemary).
- Cover the dough and leave to rest for about 30 minutes. In the meantime, you can look for suitable sticks and carve them. Tip: Hazelnut, beech or willow work best.
On your BOWL:
- Light the fire and wait for some embers to form.
- Take a palm-sized piece of dough and roll it between your hands into a thin roll.
- Now place the top of the roll on the tip of your stick and wrap the rest of the dough in a spiral around the stick. Press the dough lightly against the stick.
- Now you can hold the stick over the fire at a safe distance. It is best to hold the dough over the embers. Keep an eye on the dough to make sure it doesn't burn!
- Check your bread regularly. Be careful, the dough is hot!
- Your bread is ready when you can easily pull the dough from the stick without it sticking.
S'mores
The devilishly delicious fire dessert from the USA has long been a classic there and is becoming increasingly popular in Europe too. Easy to make and delicious to lick your fingers.
Ingredients:
- Butter biscuits with a chocolate side (milk or dark chocolate)
- Marshmallows
- One stick per person
Preparation:
- Place a marshmallow on the pointed end of the stick and hold it over the fire or in the embers. Be careful not to hold it directly in the flames, as the marshmallow will burn quickly.
- Rotate the stick evenly so that the marshmallow gets an even caramel colour on all sides.
- When the marshmallow has swollen to 2-3 times its original size, it is ready.
- Take two butter biscuits with a chocolate side and place the marshmallow on the chocolate side of the biscuit.
- Place the second biscuit on top of the hot marshmallow, also with the chocolate side down. This now melts the chocolate and your s'mores sandwich is ready.
